Gerda Horneck, nuevo miembro del Comité Científico Internacional de REDESPA
Una de los principales valores de la Red Española de Planetología y Astrobiología, es que cuenta con un selecto grupo de reconocidos científicos e ingenieros de reconocido prestigio internacional. Desde el primer momento, hemos intentado que en nuestra Red se reflejara, tanto nacional como internacionalmente, el carácter interdisciplinar necesario para el desarrollo de las actividades relacionadas con la Planetología y Astrobiología en su sentido más amplio.
REDESPA se congratula de la incorporación de la Dra. Gerda Horneck, quien acaba de ser nombrada Editora Adjunta de la revista “Astrobiology”.
Incluímos a continuación un breve texto sobre su perfil y actividades:
Dr. Horneck is former Deputy Director of the Institute of Aerospace Medicine of the German Aerospace Center DLR and former Head of its Radiation Biology Section (retired). She has been involved in several radiobiological and astrobiological space experiments since the Apollo era. She was Team leader of two astrobiological experiments of the EXPOSE missions onboard the International Space Station. For her research she was awarded with honors by ESA, NASA, DLR, the International Society of Astrobiology, (ISSOL), and the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). She has been advisor to national and international organizations including DLR, ESA, and the European Commission on space-related issues. Currently Dr. Horneck is Honorary President of the European Astrobiology Network Association (EANA). She is author of more than 100 scientific publications and has written or edited several books on astrobiology and space biology. Dr. Gerda Horneck has been recently appointed Deputy Editor of the journal “Astrobiology“. (Source: Astrobiology Announcement)
